R.I.P.: Nickolas Ashford
Nickolas Ashford (04.05.1941, Fairfield South Carolina – 22.08. 2011, New York) fu un compositore, arrangiatore e cantante afroamericano. In coppia con sua moglie, Valerie Simpson, ha scritto numerosi successi come "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "You're All I Need To Get By", "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", and "Reach Out and Touch (Somebody's Hand)" per la Motown negli anni sessanta. Negli anni settanta intraprese la carriera in duo, sempre con Valerie e ottenne ancora svariati successi planetari.

Soul: Ashford & Simpson
Nickolas Ashford (4.05. 1942, Fairfield, South Carolina) e Valerie Simpson (26.08.1946, Bronx, New York), marito e moglie, sono un duo di compositori, arrangiatori, cantanti e produttori soul statunitensi. Si incontrarono alla Harlem's White Rock Baptist Church nel 1964. Da allora scrissero una serie di capolavori tra i quali "Let's Go Get Stoned", "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "You're All I Need To Get By", "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" e "Reach Out and Touch". Dopo aver collaborato per molti anni alla Motown, agli inizi degli anni settanta intrapresero una fortunata carriera solista.
