UK Pop: The Paramounts
The Paramounts sono un complesso r'n'b britannico. Fondato dal tastierista Gary Brooker (n. 1945, GB), nativo del Southend nel 1962 e' leader di un complessino locale di R&B. Con Brooker sono Robin Trower (n. 1945, GB), B.J. Wilson e Chris Copping (poi Dez Derrick).
Tra il 1963 e il 1966 i Paramounts pubblicano 6 singoli per la EMI; uno solo ottiene un certo successo, entrando in classifica (Poison Ivy, dicembre 1963). Nel 1966 il gruppo accompagna Andie Shaw e Chris Andrews in tournee in Gran Bretagna; alla fine dell'anno, pero', si scioglie e dalle sue nasceranno nel 1967 i Procol Harum.
